While it’s likely we are getting closer to hearing a actual release date,  more and more information about No Man´s sky is being released, albeit slowly and steadily. In the meanwhile, for the ones that are not sure what No Man´s Sky is, I gathered some information from various sources. You newly born space-caddetts out there can hopefully understand a bit more about what the game actually involves and what it features. Let’s hope it paints a pretty complete picture. Most of the information gathered here comes from the Steam page and the official website of No Man´s Sky.

The game

So what is No Man’s Sky, this hyped phenomenon you see a lot gamers, hipsters and talkshow hosts drool over? Let me tell you.
It’s a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy. Your voyage through No Man’s Sky is up to you and you can do whatever you want. This brings various questions that you will have to answer for yourself: Will you be a fighter, preying on the weak and taking their riches, or taking out pirates for their bounties? Perhaps you want to be an explorer, scouring the universe for planets unknown. Power is yours if you upgrade your ship for speed and weaponry. There is no skill tree involved so you can be whatever you want. Go to planets and mine for resources or never set foot on one and get to the center of the galaxy as fast as you can.

The galaxy and what lies in the middle

At the centre of the galaxy lies an irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you’ll quickly learn that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.

The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between stars, factions fight each other for territory, pirates hunt the unwary, and the police are ever watching. Every other player lives in the same galaxy, and you can choose to share your discoveries with them on a map that spans the currently known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own… Every solar system, planet, ocean and cave is filled with danger, and you are vulnerable. Your ship and suit are fragile, and every encounter can test your skills to the limit. From dogfighting in space to firstperson combat on a planet’s surface, you will face foes ready to overwhelm and devour you like you’re a midnight snack. One mistake could see you lose everything. In No Man’s Sky, every victory and every defeat has lasting consequences.
